has signed an agreement with KAO UK Dorogobuzh Boiler Manufacturing Engineering to provide two FT8 SWIFTPAC gas turbine units for installation in
. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The SWIFTPACs will operate at base load and provide electricity and heat to the North-East Administrative District of Moscow. The installation will consist of two 30 Megawatt FT8 half-SWIFTPAC units.
Next year the company plans to expand the site with two additional FT8 gas turbines bringing the total electrical power output to 120 Megawatts. The units are expected to enter operation in the fourth quarter of 2007.
The FT8 series is a derivative of Pratt & Whitney’s JT8D aircraft engine and leverages the experience of the JT8D while incorporating updated technologies to produce power with less noise, lower emissions and higher base-load and part-load efficiency using natural gas fuel.
