NCsoft expands in Brighton

The South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) has awarded a £950,000 grant to Brighton based game publisher NCsoft Europe to expand and create over 100 skilled jobs.

NCsoft Europe, the European headquarters for Korean computer games maker NCsoft Corporation, launched in Brighton with three people in September 2004 and has grown to now employ 112.

Since establishing itself in Brighton, NCsoft Europe has received support from UKTI, South East Media Network (SEMN) and the Investor Development Manager (IDM) for East Sussex and Brighton.

SEEDA’s contribution is in the form of a Selective Finance for Investment in England (SFIE) Grant, which the RDA hopes will allow NCsoft to grow and diversify following the development and launch of a series of new products.

SEEDA’s SFIE grant will facilitate the expansion of NCsoft’s current base at Lanchester House, Brighton and support the company’s move to the CityPoint development in two years time. The expansion aims to safeguard 110 jobs at the company and create 116 new jobs by 2010.

Geoff Heath, NCsoft’s CEO said: ‘Our expansion will stimulate local competition and the exchange of best practice in the region. SEEDA’s support of our investment will help grow the business and keep us and Brighton at the forefront of our industry, both nationally and internationally. We’ll also be in a position to recruit and further develop the very best talent available.’
