Parvus Corp. today announced the availability of a free network booting utility for users of its SpacePC PC/104 form-factor single board computers (SBCs).

Parvus Corp says the software tool will enable customers to reduce the total cost of ownership and simplify management of their embedded network devices by accessing and booting from boot image files on a server.

This network booting software has been tested with all of Parvus’ SpacePC CPU boards that offer LAN controllers, including Pentium, 586, 486 and 386 models (SpacePC 4320, 4200, 2320, 2200, and 2110).

It is specifically designed for systems running Linux and can be loaded on a solid-state device, such as DiskOnChip, DiskOnModule or into the CPU boards’ onboard EEPROM.
