Parametric feature recognition program
SolidWorks has announced the availability of FeatureWorks an innovative parametric feature recognition software product for CAD users. Fully integrated within SolidWorks 98Plus, FeatureWorks is a commercial software application that recognises parametric features from files produced by standard 3D translators. FeatureWorks applies intelligence to static geometric data making it ready to use in SolidWorks 98Plus. Using FeatureWorks, you can share 3D models with companies that use different CAD systems, and leverage legacy data.

BMW uses DADS for valve train design
BMW has implemented CADSI’s DADS simulation software for analysis of complex dynamic behaviour of engine valve trains. A detailed understanding of engine operations, including the dynamic lift of the valves, is required to meet increased demands for efficiency and lower emission levels of internal combustion engines. BMW says it selected DADS because of its support of flexible components, link with controls, and hydraulics.
