SLA product family capability expanded

3D Systems has announced the launch of 3D Lightyear – a new Windows NT based software package that signficantly expands the capability of its SLA product family whilst saving customers both time and money. 3D Lightyear provides part preparation software for Windows NT. The user-friendly, easy to install, application package combines the functionality of Maestro – its Unix predecessor – with the increased productivity and cost efficiencies offered by the Windows NT platform.

Makino standardises on SolidWorks

Makino Milling Machine has selected SolidWorks software as the standard for its engineering desktops. Based in Tokyo, Makino reports that it intends to replace its existing 150 drafting seats with SolidWorks software. Makino Milling Machine is a leading worldwide supplier of machine tools, machining centres, cutting and tool grinding machines, electrical discharge machines, FMS, and other equipment for the metalworking industry.
