Nexans to install railway infrastructure cables in Paris

Cable company Nexans has been awarded two four-year contracts for a total amount of €15m by RATP, the state-owned operator of Paris’ public transport systems, to supply specialised railway infrastructure cables.

Nexans will supply more than 6,700km of various safety, control and signalling cables, including specialised safety cables (K20) for tunnel installations, where, in the event of a fire, their halogen-free and flame-retardant design minimises toxicity and smoke emissions.

Beyond infrastructure, Nexans will supply onboard cables for the renovation of metro and RER rolling stock, in compliance with European and French standards.

The cables for the RATP contract will be manufactured by Nexans factories located in Belgium, France, Germany and Switzerland.
