The North West Aerospace Alliance (NWAA) has signed a contract with logistics company Unipart, the aim of which is to provide regional aerospace companies with cost-cutting shared services.
The two-year, £1.3m contract will see NWAA members working together to improve their purchasing power and secure better deals on everything from utility services and stationery to specialist advice services such as legal and HR.
It will begin early next year and initially be piloted with 45 north west-based aerospace companies, with the aim of rolling out to cover all NWAA membership in the future.
The project will be supported by a website that will enable companies to order goods online from a number of suppliers.
It is the latest development of the Aerospace Supply Chain Excellence Programme 2 (ASCE 2), launched last year by the NWAA with £6.5m funding from the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
