Patria Hägglunds receives 100 million Euro AMOS order

Scandinavian joint venture, Patria Hägglunds Oy, has today been awarded a 100 million Euro contract by the Finnish Defence Forces to supply 24 AMOS turret systems.

Patria Hägglunds Oy, jointly owned by Patria of Finland and Alvis Hägglunds of Sweden, has today been awarded a contract by the Finnish Defence Forces (FDF) to supply 24 AMOS (Advanced MOrtar System) turret systems. The turret systems will be integrated on Patria’s armoured modular vehicle, Patria AMV 8×8.

The total value of the order is said to be over 100 million Euros, with the value of the work to be split equally between Finland and Sweden. Deliveries will take place between 2006 and 2009.

This production order follows the prototype phase, for which a contract was awarded in June 1999 by the FDF.

The AMOS turret comprises a twin barrel 120mm mortar with automatic ammunition handling and electronic target engagement and firing systems.

AMOS can utilise current ammunition stocks and is also compatible with future 120mm-mortar ammunition, such as Cargo and Guided mortar ammunition. The turret can also be integrated into an array of tracked and wheeled platforms and also on fast combat boats.
