In its biggest aerospace contract to date, Prodrive is set to supply composite components for first-class cabin interiors, providing lightweight structures for seating options available for the latest generation of airliners.
The key requirement for the programme is a very high-quality finish. According to Ian Handscombe, composites business manager at Prodrive, components that are visible to passengers have a zero-defect allowance.
The company’s integrated service includes design and development of the initial tooling through to the fabrication and finishing of each piece using CNC machines. It can also provide design support.
