Quative creates jobs in Cwmbran

Swiss-owned Quative, which develops award winning next-generation interactive television software, is creating 35 skilled jobs in Cwmbran.

Quative technology enables telecommunication, cable and satellite providers to deliver interactive services via a set-top-box, PC or mobile phone. It enables TV viewers to choose, at the touch of a button, access to video-on-demand, personal video recording, photo sharing and many other services.

Quative already supplies its software and equipment to a wide range of cable and satellite operations across Europe and America.

The company is investing £1.8m in a new research, development and servicing centre at The Pavilions, LlantarnamPark, where it will employ more than 20 people by the end of this financial year, growing to 35 next year.

Quative’s investment in Wales has been backed by a Regional Selective Assistance grant from the Welsh Assembly Government, which helped the company to lease 4,000m2 of office accommodation at The Pavilions, and acquire equipment, fixtures and fittings.

Deputy First Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones said: ‘I am delighted that we have been able to support Quative to develop this new high-tech development at LlantarnamPark. The decision by the company to choose Wales for their new R&D facility and create 35 highly skilled jobs clearly shows that Wales is fast becoming a location of choice for innovative companies operating in dynamic and highly competitive international markets.’
