Havant-based tool manufacturer Protool Manufacturing is using an advanced new resin developed by Objet Geometries to extend its manufacturing rapid prototyping services.
Protool already uses Objet’s Eden 16 micron accuracy polymer rapid prototyping technology to rapidly produce models for clients. Protool can now also supply models of moulds and products in Objet’s new resin TangoPlus FullCure930 for rubber-like materials.
The new grade can stretch further before breaking, is tough, durable and more resistant to tearing. In can be used in a range of applications requiring rubber-like flexibility and durability, such as gaskets and seals, hoses, athletic footwear, toys and more, which Protool said grants the company more manufacturing options.
The TangoPlus material can stretch 218 per cent before breaking, which Objet claims is more than double that of any other rapid prototyping material available on the market. It is also highly resistant to deterioration, making it suitable for models that are likely to be exposed to long use or rough handling.
