Raster to vector at less of a stretch

Many engineers have paper drawings that need to be viewed, edited on-screen and sometimes converted into a CAD drawing. Autodesk has just announced the launch of CAD Overlay for Release 14 of AutoCAD. The Overlay software takes the raster capabilities that are within this release to allow users to more effectively insert scanned images such as old drawings, hand-drawn sketches or digital colour photographs into a CAD drawing.

One advanced feature is rubber-sheeting which means that users can accurately stretch images after scanning. Raster editing and manipulation is as easy as using vector editing, says Autodesk, and in addition there is semi-automatic raster/vector conversion, converting raster entities to lines and polylines.
