US defence company Raytheon has contracted renewable energy from a landfill electricity-generation project in McKinney, Texas.
Raytheon is acquiring the power through Noble Americas Energy Solutions from Montauk Energy’s McKinney landfill gas-to-energy facility.
Under this agreement Raytheon will receive Green-e certified renewable energy credits.
The contract also supports the company’s 2015 goal to reduce its greenhouse gases by 10 per cent from a 2008 baseline.
