Record growth for Closed Loop Recycling in Q2 2011

Closed Loop Recycling has announced record growth in quarter two (Q2) of 2011 and now recycles more than 3.5 million bottles per day, equal to a 22 per cent increase in throughput against the first quarter of 2011.

The company, which recycles PET and HDPE plastic bottles into food-grade material, has also received the first stage of additional funding from majority investor Foresight Group to complete the engineering and design for the expansion of the Dagenham facility, which will double its overall capacity.

‘The results are a great achievement by the engineering team and are further evidence of the developing knowledge base in Britain’s green economy,’ said Chris Dow, managing director at Closed Loop Recycling.

Closed Loop Recycling’s sorting and reprocessing technology enables it to sort, granulate, wash, and super-clean 35,000 tonnes of recovered plastic bottles per year, including milk and soft-drink bottles, and turn them back into recycled raw material for new food and drink packaging.
