Release 2.o of Autodesk’s CAD software for mechanical engineers, Mechanical Desktop, takes advantage of the latest version of the popular ACIS modelling kernel, ACIS, from Spatial Technologies.
The new ACIS kernel lets Autodesk deliver three much-requested modelling improvements: shelling (including the ability to define parametric shell thickness for the entire part or a unique value for each selected face), three new types of variable radius filleting/blending and parametric booleans, which allow the addition and subtraction of parametric models.
For assembly models, so called ‘Intelli-constraints’ provide a more productive interface for adding constraints between parts. Frequently used constraints are more accessible and commonly used sequences of constraints are provided as a single constraint type.
