Parker UCC has extended its range of hydraulic reservoir products with the introduction of the TriCeptor series of disposable reservoir breathers, a design which Parker says eliminates solid particulate, water and odour from air before it enters a hydraulic reservoir system.
The TriCeptor breathers act in three ways, eliminating solid particulate, water and exhaust gases from hydraulic tanks. They incorporate the use of silica gel in the three step filtration process, and it is the incorporation of this water absorbing material that offers a visual check to engineers.
As it removes water from hydraulic fluid, the silica gel desiccant changes colour with advancing contamination, providing a clear indication of fluid condition. This saves time and provides a cleaner working environment, removing the need for sampling and closer manual inspection of contaminated fluid reservoirs.
In the second and third stages of the process, activated carbon removes oil vapours and associated odours and filter pads eliminate 99% of particulate matter down to 5.3 microns.
Although designed originally for hydraulic reservoir systems, Parker says that the new breather can also be incorporated in other industrial applications, including fuel storage tanks, aircraft ground support equipment, gearboxes and electrical enclosures.
