Atkins, Europe’s largest design and engineering consultancy, has announced the acquisition of Rotherham-based engineering solutions provider, MG Bennett & Associates, for £2.5m in cash.

MG Bennett & Associates

, for £2.5m in cash.

MG Bennett is a specialist in mechanical and structural engineering and has an established reputation for the design and handling of nuclear-related materials. Its expertise extends to the design of piping, pressure vessels, bespoke mechanical equipment and large moveable structures.

Beyond its nuclear expertise, MG Bennett has worked within the aerospace, oil and gas, power, environmental and rail sectors. The company has participated on a number of high-profile projects, including the Channel Tunnel and Airbus A380.

Atkins expects the acquisition to develop its nuclear capability in the new build, generation and decommissioning sectors, as well as improve its expertise in mechanical design.
