Rolls Royce order books are set to swell to more than $8.3 billion with the announcement of $200 million in orders from American Airlines and American Eagle.
Rolls Royce will provide American Airlines with Trent 800 engines worth $168 million for six new Boeing 777s and AE 3007 engines worth $32 million for six Embraer ERJ 135 regional jets for American Eagle.
American Eagle have taken firm and option orders for 277 ERJ 145 and ERJ 135 aircraft powered by the AE 3007.
The order means that American Airlines will operate a total of 43 Trent 800 powered 777s, 122 RB211-535 powered Boeing 757s and 75 Tay powered Fokker 100s.
This latest order gives the Trent 800 43 per cent of the Boeing market and will add to the 260 Rolls Royce powered aircraft currently operated by American Airlines and American Eagle.
