Rolls-Royce has been chosen to provide power solutions for two major Italian municipal energy projects, which will use the Bergen lean-burn gas engine to secure their power supply. The total value of both contracts is estimated to be worth £6 million.
In Verona, northern Italy, Rolls-Royce will supply nine KVGS- 12G3 engines to replace existing units for AGSM Verona for two district heating schemes in the city. According to a statement, the Bergen units will give AGSM a more cost efficient and environmentally friendly plant.
Rolls-Royce has also signed a contract for a similar co-generation and district-heating programme with AMPS Parma.
Rolls-Royce will build the new power plant, enabling AMPS to provide hot water and electricity to city inhabitants.
The power will be provided by a single KVGS-18G3 Bergen engine and supplemented with gas fired boilers. The station is included in Parma’s energy plan which aims to boost energy efficiency, reduce emissions and provide reliable heating to the local community.
