Rolls-Royce has signed a contract with Detroit Chile for the delivery of offshore cranes to four platform supply vessels (PSVs) under construction at Detroit Brasil Ltda. shipyard, in Itajaì, Brazil.
The delivery from Rolls-Royce will include four ship sets of dual draglink crane.
Upon completion, the vessels designed by Guido Perla, will enter service on an eight-year contract with the state owned Brazilian oil company Petrobras. Brazilian Starnav Serviços Marìtimos Ltda, a subsidiary of Detroit Chile SA, will operate the vessels.
According to Rolls-Royce the dual draglink crane is optimised for safer and more efficient load handling in harbour and on the ship’s deck while at sea. The cranes allow fast and safer loading, unloading and moving of cargo over the entire length of the main deck.
