Rolls-Royce has won a major repeat order for gas turbine power generation equipment to meet the growing demand for reliable power in Indonesia.
The multi-million pound contract, awarded by an Indonesian independent power production consortium led by PT Menamas, is for a second 23,000kW RB211-6562 dual-fuel generating set to be installed in a power station in East Kalimantan.
PT Menamas, which has a long-term contract to sell the electrical power produced by the gas turbines to Indonesia’s state electric utility, PLN, ordered the first RB211 generator set in 2002.
‘This most recent order reflects the significant level of customer satisfaction in the commercial and technical performance of the RB211-6562 generating set,’ said Tom Curley, President of the Rolls-Royce Energy Business.
‘The customer’s original evaluation and selection of the RB211 clearly indicates our product was chosen as the best power generator for this installation.’
The RB211 will be packaged at Rolls-Royce’s Liverpool, UK plant and is scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of this year. As part of the contract, Rolls-Royce will also install and commission the RB211.
