Specifically designed for pocket PCs and PDAs, Roundpoint claims the solution is helping customers save time and money as up until now the assessments could only be completed on paper.
Previously, the questionnaire had to be completed once on paper and again on the PC. Now the assessment is entered once and uploaded automatically to a PC, after which it can be printed out as required.
Roundpoint said health and safety assessments are a legal requirement which means the market for the new digital assessment tool is likely to grow rapidly.
The Roundpoint on-line assessment system dynamically adapts to the device the user is operating at the time. By making use of mobile web technologies, the service is delivered to wireless PDAs or smartphones as a web service.
Because it utilises the onboard browser of device, no software needs to be installed and all data is stored centrally in real time. In this way, reports can be filed in the field and are immediately available in the home office. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connections, a protocol for secure transmission of messages across the internet, are used to ensure data security.
