Experts in injection moulding, Rutland Plastics of Oakham, are pleased to announce an updated version of their popular free Design Guide. Sketches illustrating design tips have been replaced with 3D CAD images. “Since its launch the Design Guide has proved very popular” Commented Stuart Lovett, Marketing Manager. “We felt that it was worthwhile to give it a more professional appearance. Furthermore, the CAD images illustrate more clearly the points we are trying to get across.”
The guide covers areas such as strength, precision, appearance and assembly as well as a checklist to aid the design process and help Rutland Plastics to recommend the most appropriate material for the application. “We work in partnership with our customers, pooling experience and using our CAD system, to optimise designs for their cost-effective production,” added Stuart. “Hopefully, this guide will help prevent some of the potential pitfalls and so speed the whole process from concept to production.”
It is planned to add further guides in the future bringing together the plastic material features from the monthly email Newsletter with other relevant articles. Rutland Plastics can produce injection mouldings up to a weight of 38kg and the company is particularly proud of its expertise in thick section mouldings, which can be in excess of 100mm. This brings the economic advantage of the injection moulding process to many products traditionally made by other methods.
