Saab set to supply helicopter self-protection equipment

Defence and security company Saab has received an order worth around ZAR130m (£9.4m) for helicopter self-protection and electronic intelligence systems from AgustaWestland.

The systems are configured in such a way that the electronic surveillance payload is integrated within the integrated defensive aids suite. This enhances their capability to perform accurate direction finding and emitter location.

Development and production will take place at Saab in Centurion, South Africa, and in Järfälla, Sweden.

Deliveries are scheduled for 2013–15.
