Screening for SARS

A joint development effort between Coreco Imaging and Cantronic Systems has led to the development of a system that can be used in the fight against SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome).

The Fever Scan M3000 itself is an imaging system that has been designed for spotting individuals in public areas who have elevated body temperatures – one indication that they may be exhibiting the first symptoms of SARS.

As a group of people walk past a camera, a thermal image of them is captured and then displayed on a screen. Body temperatures above a predefined value, such as a fever, can then be visually identified and further assessed by medical personnel.

The M3000 system is capable of evaluating hundreds of people a minute, so pedestrian flow is not restricted.

A number of the systems are already being deployed worldwide.
