Setting new performance standards

The A-max range of motors from maxon will be exhibited at the Drives and Controls show by Trident Engineering.

The motors use a fibre glass reinforced plastic, called polyphthalamide, said to rival metal in strength and stability.

The motors are built by a new procedure that forms the stator by assembling the motor housing, magnet and end cap in a single injection moulding process. Both ball and sleeve bearings are available as are single or double ended shaft configurations.

An improved commutator system includes a reduced diameter commutator with more segments for longer life.

Middle range sizes are available with either 3, 5 or 7 fingered precious metal brushes, or graphite/copper commutation for hard working environments.

The motors and associated encoders will use a new snap-on fixing for quicker assembly.
