Shielding by spraying

Installation of robotic spraying has enhanced IVC’s Spraycoat paint spray service. It enables smaller batches of shielded enclosures to be produced than was previously possible.

The process is claimed to be the most cost effective method of shielding plastic enclosures and similar components. There are several different coatings available to suit different applications, which include Ag20, AgCu30 and Ni50.

Ag20 provides high levels of shielding with highly loaded silver paints applied to a nominal thickness of 20um.

AgCu30 uses a silver plated copper paint formulated to provide low resistance at coating thicknesses of 20um to 30um.

Ni50 comprises nickel-loaded paint applied to a nominal thickness of 50um.
