Siemens Energy to supply wind farm turbines

Siemens Energy has been awarded a contract to supply the Biglow Canyon Wind Farm in Oregon with 141 2.3MW turbines.

with a capacity of nearly 325MW.

Siemens will supply 141 units of its 2.3MW turbines for the Biglow Canyon Wind Farm Phases 2 and 3 in Sherman County in Oregon. The purchaser, Portland General Electric Company (PGE), serves more than 804,000 customers in Oregon.

According to Siemens, the Biglow Canyon Wind Farm Phases 2 and 3 will produce enough power to meet the electricity demand of approximately 100,000 households. Phase 2 of the project is scheduled to be operational in late 2009, and Phase 3 is expected to be on line in late 2010.

The Siemens scope of supply consists of delivery, installation and commissioning of the 141 SWT-2.3-93 wind turbines with a capacity of 2.3MW each, including a five-year warranty and separate service and maintenance agreement.
