Siemens Transportation Systems (STS) are opening their first office in Scotland and appointing Eddie Inglis as business development manager, as they step up their operations north of the border.
Inglis, originally from Edinburgh, was responsible for the introduction of the TransPennine class 285 fleet in 2006 and has over 30 years experience in senior management and engineering roles in the UK and overseas.
Inglis said developments in Scotland were ‘vitally important’ to the UK rail industry and described his role as managing rolling stock sales and service as well as infrastructure. He added: ‘Key to success in Scotland is ensuring that customers receive a seamless and customer-focused service from Siemens and that is what I’ll be aiming to achieve.’
Inglis has held roles in the automotive and energy sectors, as well as spending four years travelling the world as an engineering officer for the Pacific Navigation Company.
Managing director for STS, Christian Roth, said: ‘Eddie is a highly experienced senior railway manager with the drive and determination needed to develop our presence in Scotland. We’re very pleased that Eddie has taken up the challenge of taking STS to the next level in Scotland and we wish him every success in his new role.’
