Siemens Transmission and Distribution has opened a new training centre for its engineers and customers to gain hands-on experience of technological developments in the industry.
The £250,000 centre will be located near Siemens’ manufacturing plant in Hebburn,
Chris Beadsworth, service director for Siemens, said: ‘Rapid product and technology developments in our industry and the implications this has for field service teams means that it is vitally important engineers keep up-to-date with the very latest training initiatives.’
Generic courses on subjects such as substation design and switchgear design and protection are also available, along with circuit breaker tester training. Siemens has also recently invested in a new decontamination facility next door to the training centre, which offers SF6 insulating gas safe handling courses as well as providing regular and intensive training to its own field service team.
