The Lillgrund wind farm will be based in Öresund near Malmö. It will have a 110MW capacity, enough to meet the electricity demand of approximately 60,000 Swedish households. It is scheduled to start commercial operation in late 2007.

Siemens has constructed a number of wind farms, including the world’s largest, the Nysted offshore wind farm in Denmark. Siemens PG’s wind power division also recently signed a contract for a UK offshore wind farm, consisting of 25 3.6MW wind turbines for the Burbo Banks offshore wind farm in Liverpool Bay, which is scheduled for commissioning in autumn 2007.

Siemens PG will supply and install 48 of its 2.3MW Mk II wind turbines. The project scope includes turbine delivery, electrical infrastructure, installation and a five-year service and maintenance agreement. Siemens Power Transmission and Distribution will provide equipment for the project’s offshore transformer station.
