The Provincial Electricity Authority of Thailand has awarded Siemens IC Networks two contracts worth $ 17.5 million to install 2,100 km of optical fibre cable.

Siemens IC Networks has announced that it has been awarded two contracts to install 2,100 km of optical fibre cable from the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) of Thailand.

The contracts are said to be worth more than $ 17.5 million. Completion of the projects will reportedly enable PEA to have a state-of-the-art high-capacity optical fibre transmission network in central and eastern regions of Thailand.

Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) is a government enterprise under the Ministry of Interior. PEA has been assigned responsibility to provide and supply electricity throughout Thailand’s 73 provinces.

PEA’s implementation target is to achieve an acceptable level of efficiency and reliability in the distribution system in response to the national economic and social development plan.
