Simula announced today that it has been awarded a four-year contract valued at $22.3 million with Boeing to manufacture troop seats for the US Air Force’s C-17 Globemaster III military transport aircraft.

The contract also includes a variable quantity option that allows Boeing to order additional shipsets to meet urgent orders.

Simula currently supplies Boeing with the centreline and sidewall troop seats for the C-17. Each shipset of troop seats is composed of 54 one-place sidewall-mounted seats and eight six-place floor-mounted centreline seats, amounting to a total of 102 seats per aircraft.

In August of 2002, the US Air Force ordered an additional 60 C-17 aircraft, brining the number of C-17s on order to 180 with production running through to 2007.
