This allows you to predict mechanical properties such as creep, distortion and residual stresses that are generated directly by transformation during forming and heat treatment processes. Also, the geometries and properties of the workpiece prior to heat treatment can be generated by modeling the forming operation as well.
The analysis is geared towards helping both process and research engineers to reduce costs and improve component performance and quality. The company says that the material transformation, diffusion and electro-magnetic heating capabilities have been seamlessly integrated into the redesigned graphical user interface in the new release of DEFORM 2D V6.0, which is available on both PC and Unix workstations.
