PalmPalm Technology, in co-operation with SK Telecom and Seoul National University has developed the IMT-2000 — a smart phone based around a version of the Linux operating system.
The ‘Palmi’ phone also incorporates the functions of a cellular phone and PDA, nad supports multimedia functions including animation, MP3, and video communications. Bluetooth enabled, it is also possible to use the device for wireless communication and playing networked games.
Tynux, the version of Linux used in the phone, was developed by PalmPalm Technology itself and released earlier this year.
While involved in the development effort, PalmPalm Technology has established strategic partnership with prominent application software companies worldwide.
The company has integrated games from Korean based Mdream, pen-recognition from Diotek, Bluetooth functionality from Zeen, QT/Embedded from Trolltech of Norway and a web browser from Opera Software.
