Smiths Aerospace has been awarded two contracts worth a combined £60 million to supply post-production engine parts and rings for gas turbine engines.
The first contract, awarded by Rolls-Royce, is for the supply of post-production engine parts and is valued at £40 million, with options, over 5 years.
This is the first contract of its type offered by Rolls-Royce on post production parts and is said to follow a pilot scheme, undertaken by Smiths’ Burnley facility to demonstrate rapid response, lean manufacturing and simplified processes.
The scope of the contract covers parts for civil, military, industrial and marine engines for a range of platforms including Hawk, Jaguar, Harrier and Concorde aircraft.
The second contract is with Reynolds Rings, a part of Smiths Aerospace, covering the supply of rings for gas turbine engines.
Commencing immediately, the contract will be worth approximately £20 million over the next 3 years.
