Smoothing pulsating flow

Positive displacement pumps release fluids in pulses, which creates difficulties where a steady flow is necessary or the flow has to be measured. Additionally, noise and vibration are problems that can cause damage to the pump mechanism.

R E Components has been chosen to make a elastomeric membrane which forms a key component in Flowguard’s pulsation damper – a device to smooth the flow of pumped liquids.

The membrane is a maximum of 3mm thick, but subject to pressures as high as 200bar. It is moulded in Viton, which has the chemical resistance to meet the range of chemicals the units encounter.
