Software learns to convert paper

Most engineers who have been confronted with the task of converting old paper drawings into usable vector CAD files will have felt the temptations to just start again from scratch. There are some clever facilities in the latest raster editing and conversion software from GTX Europe that should make this kind of software more attractive to the user who is severely pressed for time.

Visitors to ICAT can see an add-on module to GTXImage CAD which is based on hybrid neural-net technology and gives real Intelligent Character Recognition (ICR). This means the engineer can use the adaptive recognition engine in the software to train it to automatically recognise text characters associated with their own drafting and company styles. These training files can then be saved or added to other training files for future use.
