A software toolkit that will enable communication between PDM systems is on its way from Enabled Systems. The company is developing the toolkit from a software architecture identified through participation in the ESPRIT RISESTEP project (20459) – a £4 million project funded by the European Union with the remit to address the feasibility of communication between `closed’ PDM systems. The toolkit will use common standards and communications protocols, allowing remote access and manipulation of data, as well as immediate data transfer, reducing lead times and speeding up the development cycle.
