In John O’Groats it was snowing and sub-zero. In Wales it was 90 C, but through all weathers Gordon Diffin kept going on his round Britain trip to raise money for the RNIB, RSPCA and The British Diabetics Society. Diffin who is partially sighted through diabetes rode his battery driven Booster scooter round the British coast towing a trailer he designed and built himself which carried spare batteries, a charger, his belongings and his two dogs. Diffin specified Sonnenschein dryfit A500 batteries because they have a good cyclic life and do not leak or spill. This turned out to be particularly useful when a car hit the trailer spilling its contents all over the road and when one of the motors overheated in a hilly area engulfing the scooter in flames. CMP Batteries supplied the batteries and charger for the scooter, free of charge and Diffin raised £4000 for charity look out for the book about his adventures.
