Perth-headquartered Scottish and Southern Energy has invested a further £1.1m in solar photovoltaic provider Solarcentury Holdings.
Perth-headquartered Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) has invested a further £1.1m in solar photovoltaic provider Solarcentury Holdings.
The new investment forms part of a £13.5m round of financing which SSE says will enable Solarcentury to fund its product development and international expansion strategy. Following the transaction, SSE will own a 12.3 per cent share in Solarcentury.
SSE is the largest generator of electricity from renewable sources in the UK and the third largest provider of electricity and gas in the UK. According to SSE, its further investment in the Solarcentury business reflects the success of the existing relationship between the two businesses and confidence in the future of this sector.
SSE’s subsidiary, Southern Electric Contracting, is Solarcentury’s preferred installer
