SSI, a member of the Chelford Group, has secured a contract worth £500,000 to supply a next generation supply chain management solution for Morrison Bowmore Distillers, one of Scotland’s leading whisky distillers.
The implementation of e-Tropos supply chain solution is due for completion by the end of 2001. The contract includes the supply of computer hardware and facilities management services for the first year of operation.
‘The e-Tropos solution provides the core information infrastructure on which the operation of the entire business will be built,’ said SSI’s managing director, Trevor Lewis. ‘We are delighted to welcome Morrison Bowmore as a customer. The contract was won against stiff competition and once again reflects the strength of SSI functionality, open technology, delivery methodology and it’s lifecycle support business model.’
Based in Glasgow, Morrison Bowmore has distilleries in Bowmore (Islay), Glen Garioch (Highlands) and Auchentoshan (near Glasgow), each producing its own distinctive range if award winning Single Malt Scotch Whiskey brands. A key function of the system is to record, monitor and process customers orders and generate the requirements for materials acquisition and production. Apart from natural ingredients used in the manufacturing process, the packaging represents an important element of the finished product. Whisky is marketed in a range if bottle styles and branded packaging, much of which is changed frequently to meet the demands of seasonal sales campaigns.
The e-Tropos solution covers every aspect of Morrison Bowmore’s operation, from order intake, sales dispatch and warehousing through to materials procurement and production control down to the process level. Supporting software in accounts and payroll are integrated enabling the entire business to access a single source of continuously updated information.
The system will serve 35 user workstations and will operate on Windows NT on resilient Hewlett Packard computers.
