Broad-based growth across regions and industries



With net sales of €1.211 billion and growth of 8.8%, the Endress+Hauser Group exceeded its ambitious targets for 2008. Business developed strongly in the oil & gas, power, energy, shipbuilding and renewable energies industries not only through instrumentation for process engineering, but also through services and automation solutions, which are becoming increasingly significant sectors. With a broad-based growth, the company developed dynamically in the Middle East and showed stable growth in Europe, but lost momentum in Asia as a result of the exchange rate as well as in America with a noticeable downturn. 200 new patent applications in 2008 give evidence of the innovative strength of Endress+Hauser. The Group spent €88.8 million on R&D, 17.5% more than in 2007. What’s more, the company created in total 579 additional jobs worldwide.


Worldwide expansion



In 2008, the Endress+Hauser Group invested more than €106.8 million – €12 million more than the year before. Within the last five years, the company has spent almost €400 million on new buildings and facilities. The Group’s worldwide network was further strengthened by the addition of a Sales Centre in Venezuela, a support centre in Panama and new Sales Centres in Qatar and Lithuania among others.
