Studsvik signs boiler treatment contract with LLW Repository

Studsvik has signed an £15m contract with LLW Repository for the transport and treatment of the remaining 10 redundant heat exchangers from the Magnox Berkeley site in Gloucestershire, UK.

The work is set to take place in 2013 and will complete an important step in the decommissioning of the site.

The heat exchangers each weigh more than 300 tonnes and were used as an integral part of the electricity production process of the nuclear power station before it ceased operation in 1989.
