Diversified technology company 3M has launched a range of laminating adhesive tapes providing greater shear and peel strength than other, thicker tapes.

3M’s Laminating Adhesive 360 offers a range of features and benefits for the many original equipment manufacturers designing thinner products using lighter-weight materials.

Available as both an adhesive transfer tape and a double-coated tape, the range offers initial high-tack for fast and secure assembly to a range of high surface energy (HSE) and previously difficult-to-bond low surface energy (LSE) substrates, including glass, ABS and hard-to-bond PP, HDPE, LDPE, nylon and powder-coated or UV-painted surfaces.

Very thin bond lines of between 50 and 130um are achieved, making it suitable for conditions where aesthetic considerations are paramount.

Minimal oozing helps address common production issues such as adhesive ‘picking’ during unwinding, adhesive residue on cutting blades and adhesive sticking to line and/or die-cut part surfaces.

The products are heat resistant up to 180C and offer good resistance to solvents and harsh environments.
