At Powtech 2013 in Nuremberg, Germany, AKO will highlight its range of pneumatic pinch valves, including the VMC series, which is available in sizes DN10–100. Pinch valves can be used to shut off abrasive solids-containing media in industries such as chemicals, plastics, ceramics, environmental, water treatment and cement.

AKO pinch valves are said to offer 100 per cent clear product flow, low resistance, leak-free operation, no plugging and an extremely light construction.

The VMC series is a multifunctional modular system that comprises a four-part construction: the housing (body); an elastomeric sleeve; and two connection covers (socket ends). Various materials are available for the body, flanges and socket ends, including aluminium, steel, stainless steel or plastic. The replaceable sleeve is offered in a range of elastomer grades, including natural rubber, EPDM and silicone.

The VMC air-operated pinch valves meet all requirements of the Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC. Special conductive models with separate earthing are also available for use in hazardous areas (zones 1, 2, 21 and 22).

Control components such as solenoid valves, filter regulators and pressure switches can be installed upon request.

AKO Armaturen is a specialist in the manufacture of pinch valves and a producer of various valves such as air-operated pinch valves, mechanical pinch valves and knife-gate valves for use in the industrial sector. Due to the versatile usability of fittings, AKO has prevailed as the European leader in air-operated pinch valves to this day. Through consistent and innovative research and development, AKO can offer products for almost every industrial sector and provides users with a reliable and safe solution.

How does an AKO pinch valve work?

Pinch valves work by the controlling the medium of air pressure or water being used between the pinch valve body and the sleeve to give 100 per cent closure of the pinch valve. Exhausting the pressure causes the pinch valve to open. When open, the sleeve is a true bore allowing unobstructed medium to flow through. The maximum operating pressure is dependent on the nominal diameter and is around 2–6 bar.

All products from the AKO portfolio have received the certificate according to DIN ISO 9001:2008. AKO has demonstrated its high quality worldwide for many years.
