Alfa Laval has introduced a new range of tank-access covers that meet the requirements of the 3-A Sanitary Standard for cleanability.

Process equipment displaying the coveted 3-A symbol must meet excellent material, design and fabrication standards for cleanability and inspection.

An example of a new Alfa Laval 3-A tank-access cover is the Oval Cover Type LKD.

Manufactured in 316L stainless steel, it is available in two sizes: 440 x 320mm and 535 x 435mm with FDA-approved seals in EPDM, NBR, FPM or silicone.

Like all tank covers in the 3-A range, the Oval Cover Type LKD features an electro-polished surface finish of less than 0.4Ra on the product contact parts and 0.8Ra on non-product contact surfaces.

With its optimal hygienic design, the 3-A cover is the choice for more demanding applications in the dairy, food and beverage, biopharm and personal-care industries.

The 3-A symbol range includes non-pressure models for fitting above the liquid level, pressure models for above or below the liquid level, and static pressure models for below the liquid level.

The access covers are authorised to carry the 3-A symbol, according to 3-A standard 63-03 and 84-02.

Alfa Laval’s portfolio includes tank-cleaning machines, instrumentation, tank-access covers, tank agitators and mixers, sight glasses and other tank accessories.
