Applied Market Information’s first Bioplastics Compounding and Process 2011 Conference will feature presentations from Procter and Gamble and Kimberly-Clark.

The event will take place 29-30 March at the Hilton Miami Downtown in Miami, Florida, US.

AMI’s Bioplastics Compounding and Processing 2011 two-day itinerary features speakers from all over the country, including brand owners from Proctor and Gamble and Kimberly-Clark.

The keynote speech will be given by an expert on bioplastics from Michigan State University and there will be additional presentations from RTP, Nissei America, FKUR Plastics, Clariant International, Leistritz, Natureworks, Novamont Spa, Beta Analytic, Organic Waste Systems (OWS) and others.

Confirmed exhibitors include Brabender Technologie , Colortronic North America , FKUR Plastics, Gala, Kreyenborg Industries, Rio Tinto Minerals, Rhein Chemie and CPM Century Extrusion.

They will touch upon topics of compounding and processing technology while learning about the newly developed bio-sourced and biodegradable plastics that can be used in a wider range of applications.

There are a variety of certification and testing protocols in place for bioplastic materials and products, which the buyer and the processor need to understand to select appropriate compounds and machinery while consideration of the life cycle analysis (LCA) and the carbon footprint of products formed from these plastics.

The end performance has to meet appropriate requirements from FDA approvals for food contact and medical applications, to physical strength in packaging, electronic and automotive.
