Amplicon has released a series of industrial-grade, Profinet-enabled Ethernet switches designed specifically for Profinet programmable logic controller (PLC) applications. Users can directly integrate and manage the switches in a SCADA system without the need for additional configuration or any modifications.

The EDS-405A/408A-PN switches can be directly installed into new or existing Profinet networks to reduce deployment time. They can also be managed and monitored by SCADA system software, such as Simatic Step 7.

The switches support Moxa’s Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain network redundancy technologies. When a connection failure occurs, they enable fast network recovery in less than 20msec for high network reliability.

The switches also support Moxa’s full suite of management features, including SNMP, port mirroring, QoS, IGMP snooping, IEEE 802.1Q VLAN and port-based VLAN.

Key features and specifications

  • Fast booting time of less than 10 seconds
  • Compact, metal, IP30-rated enclosure
  • Ability to withstand temperatures ranging from -40°C to +75°C
  • Five or eight 10/100BaseT(X) ports
