A four-day course on vibration reduction and the quieting of vehicles, devices and equipment is scheduled to take place in March and May 2009.

The Applied Technology Institute (ATI) course, entitled ‘Vibration and Noise Control’, will be taught by specialists Dr Eric Ungar and Dr James Moore.

The course – which is scheduled to take place in Boston, Massachusetts, on 16-19 March and in Beltsville, Maryland, on 4-7 May – will provide guidance relevant to design, problem solving and development of improvements.

Ungar has previously served as president of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering and the chairman of the design engineering division of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Moore has developed statistical energy analysis models for the investigation of vibrations and noise in complex structures such as submarines, helicopters and cars.

He has also participated in the development of active noise control systems, noise reduction coating and signal conditioning means.
